Bettina Camcigil

Bettina: After a 15 year career in the nonprofit sector, I felt a need to explore my creativity and so have been taking art classes at the Art League in Alexandria for the past couple of years, mostly drawing, pastels and mosaics. I have set up a small art studio in our ever-shrinking dining room where I do all sorts of things that are probably not suitable in a dining room such as cutting glass, using adhesives, pouring resin, silver-leafing, painting and coating things in pastel dust. I’m still an exploratory artist, trying out different mediums and techniques, and along the way trying to teach myself the most important lesson of art and creativity – to enjoy the process and live in the moment of creating rather than obsess over the end result.
