Karen Chin

 

KAREN CHIN Currently, Karen is working in oils, but is equally at home with multi-mixed-water media. Recent water-media work includes a series of thirteen pieces highlighting the US Navy SEALS. She just completed her Featured Artist show at the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center. The collection of pieces called “Something Bright…and Black&White” featured the floral shapes from a friend’s collection of close-ups of flower petals and shapes accompanied by figures in black and white patterns. Media for these pieces include oils, acrylics, watercolor, and mixed media and textured surface substrates. Karen is one of the Associate Artists of the Workhouse

Since 2011, Karen has had work juried into 7 exhibits in Virginia and 1 in North Carolina, with sales from events in both states. She has work in permanent collections at Mount Olive College-Wilmington, NC, and in Crystal City, Virginia. She also exhibited at the Town Bank, Virginia Beach, Virginia as part of an eight artist exhibit. Fall 2013 participation at the Burgwin-Wright House, Wilmington, NC plein-air event resulted in two sales and three consignment pieces. Another Wilmington, NC event included a partnered show with the Wilmington Art Association and the Cultural Committee of UNC-Wilmington featuring earth-nature subject matter and original two-piano composition and other musical works.

She is a member of the Springfield Art Guild, the Wilmington (NC) Art Association and in August of 2013 was juried into the Associate Artists Group of the Lorton Workhouse Arts Center.
